Highlights of the trip

The programme is indicative only and may be subject to change without notice.

Day 1 - Day 4

Cape Town: The Mother City

A quick flight will take us to South Africa, the rainbow nation so dear to Nelson Mandela, and Cape Town, its legislative capital, overlooked by the famous Table Mountain, which will be our first visit. We'll continue on to the region's unmissable vineyards, where you'll have the unique opportunity to sample local gastronomy accompanied by fine wines. In the evening, you'll admire the sun setting below the ocean's horizon before your dinner by the water in the gentle atmosphere of the austral summer. The following day, the Cape of Good Hope National Park will open its doors to you and lead you in the footsteps of many an adventurer to the meeting point of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.

Day 4 - Day 7

Sossusvlei: The Namib dunes

Your journey will continue to Namibia, where the Namib dunes stretch as far as the eye can see, changing colour as the sun rises before plunging to the sea. This discovery of the oldest desert in the world through extreme landscapes will allow you to reach the famous Dune 45, known as Big Daddy, whose summit rises to 800 metres, overlooking the petrified trees of Dead Vlei. You'll fall asleep at Sossusvlei in impressive silence and under a constellation of a thousand lights.

Day 7 - Day 8

Victoria Falls: The "Rumbling Smoke

After this surprising stopover, you will make your way to the Victoria Falls, a veritable force of nature fed by the Zambezi, the natural border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. A lunch cruise on the river and the spectacle of an extremely rich fauna will be offered to you before the visit of the Falls. Like Dr Livingstone, you will follow the banks of the two countries, allowing you to grasp the immensity of the site. A little later, you'll take a step back in time as you board a steam train for a sunset dinner.
The following day, a new adventure will take you across Zambia for a day trip to Botswana's Chobe National Park. A water safari will introduce you to a totally different wilderness, home to huge crocodiles and some of the largest elephant herds in Africa.

Day 8 - Day 9

Chobe National Park: Water safari

Head for Central Africa to discover Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills, and its national park, recognised worldwide as the last sanctuary for mountain gorillas. Having come close to extinction, their population now exceeds a thousand specimens spread along the shared borders of Rwanda, Uganda and Congo. A wildlife guide and a ranger will take you safely into the deep jungle to meet them. Finally, the capital, Kigali, will not fail to surprise you with its dynamism and spectacular development at the cutting edge of new technologies, despite the scars of the recent genocide.

Day 9 - Day 12

Kigali: Discovering the Gorillas

Head for Central Africa to discover Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills, and its national park, recognised worldwide as the last sanctuary for mountain gorillas. Having come close to extinction, their population now exceeds a thousand specimens spread along the shared borders of Rwanda, Uganda and Congo. A wildlife guide and a ranger will take you safely into the deep jungle to meet them. Finally, the capital, Kigali, will not fail to surprise you with its dynamism and spectacular development at the cutting edge of new technologies, despite the scars of the recent genocide.

Day 12 - Day 15

Kilimanjaro: Ngorongoro Crater

Our epic journey would not be complete without a safari in Tanzania in the impressive Ngorongoro crater, a vast caldera 20 km in diameter formed when a volcano collapsed to a depth of 600 metres. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this biotope is home to an extraordinary wealth of wildlife, including the last remaining black rhinos. The grasslands, acacia forests and Lake Magadi provide an exceptional habitat for all the species.
An early morning flight in a hot-air balloon will allow you to witness the awakening of the savannah and its wildlife in a breathtaking setting, before enjoying breakfast in the middle of the bush and setting off on a day's safari to meet the big cats and other pachyderms and wild mammals.

Day 15 - Day 18

Zanzibar: Between culture and lagoons

The final leg of our journey will take you to Zanzibar, the Tanzanian archipelago off the coast of Dar Es Salaam and a subtle blend of Africa and Arabia, having been a dependency of the Sultanate of Oman for a very long time and still influenced today by Swahili and Islamic influences. You will discover the town of Stone Town, a historic trading centre and former hub of the slave trade, in the midst of a veritable labyrinth of winding alleys adorned with magnificent carved doors, relics of another era. You can also take advantage of your hotel's facilities, white sandy beaches and the turquoise lagoons of the Indian Ocean.
